We first started looking for a system that would be a repository for student records and track mandatory expiry dates. Like many schools, our student notes were hurriedly written up at the end of the day, and then kept in a drop file in a locked filing cabinet. There were issues with illegibility, incompleteness and inaccuracies. Also, the students had very limited access to their own notes. We needed a system that would securely store student notes online as well as tracking the syllabus. FSB does this very well, and more. We now have a system where students can review their own training notes at any time. Instructors can also check on student progress prior to the lesson. This means both students and instructors are better prepared and better briefed prior to each lesson. We can also store exam results, along with their expiry dates and certificates. Students and instructors find it so much easier. The CAA inspector likes it as well!

We really struggled when it came to tracking mandatories - SEP, medicals, recency, approvals, membership etc. No longer. FSB does it all, and does it very well. The system sends out warnings prior to expiry, so users find it easier to manage their own.

Once this had all settled in, we moved over to the booking system which is very good. It cuts down on administration time, as students and pilots manage their own bookings. It also links into an ‘Office Display’ which is a TV screen with the current day’s bookings. This will undoubtedly help with punctuality.

Mathew recently included ‘agreements’ which is a very useful feature. Up until now, we would publish checklist or FOM amendments. But we had no way of knowing if they had been read or understood. Now FSB sends out an agreement (which we word). This requires the user to check the box to say that it has been read, understood and will be followed.

Mathew has been fantastic. He has supported us through every step of the process.
