Spend less on bookkeeping

Submitted by Mathew Waters on

Wouldn't it be lovely if you could just record the flights in Flight School Booking and let the system handle invoicing, payments and your bookkeeping?

Now you can!

Xero, QuickBooks and Sage logos

How does it work?

After connecting your bookkeeping system, you "map" the account codes you set up in Flight School Booking to your accounts in Xero, QuickBooks or Sage. The process is the same for tax rates on sales; just map these to the corresponding rate in your accounts.

The system works whether or not you use Stripe to accept payments.

A summary of sales, tax and payments for the day is transferred as a manual journal (debits and credits) and records the money in and out of each account including information about any tax rates.

If you need to drill-down from a particular entry in the accounts, the manual journal contains a link back to the source information in Flight School Booking. Notably Xero stands out as the best integration for this because it provides a clickable link at the top of the entry. In QuickBooks and Sage, the link is still present, but you would copy and paste it into your browser instead.

When can I start using it?

Soon: from 1 April 2021. You might say we're running a "pilot" scheme! ... I know... groan...

To read more about it, see "Bookkeeping" in the online manual.

The small print

Flight School Booking does not take any responsibility for your books: the system will send across whatever you put in it, so recording things accurately is very important. For example, it's important to know when to issue a credit and when to apply an adjustment. They both have the same effect on your a customer's balance but a very different effect on your profit and therefore tax liability.

If you are already paying for a Gold Plan subscription on 1st April 2021 there will be no additional charge.
